CHAMPAIGN - Dalton Quitman Aldridge, 90, of Champaign passed away Monday (March 17, 2025) after a brief illness. He passed peacefully.Born at home in rural Blackshear, Ga., on Dec. 23, 1934, Dalton was the seventh of nine children born to Ben A. and Mary E. (Pittman) Aldridge. He attended Blackshear High School. He had his birth officially registered with Pierce County, Ga., in August 1951 so he could follow four of his older siblings into service in the U.S. Army. His parents presented the family Bible as evidence of his birth.Dalton trained and worked as a butcher for a short while before volunteering to switch to the U.S. Air Force, where he studied, worked in and later taught aviation electronics. He spent the rest of his Air Force career traveling the world. While stationed in England, Dalton's friend Frank introduced him to his girlfriend's younger sister, Barbara. Frank married Margaret, and on April 14, 1956, at the Parish Church of St. Andrews in Ham, Dalton married Barbara.D
