RANTOUL - James "Jimmy" William Shilts, 67, of Rantoul passed away peacefully on Friday (July 26, 2024) at Illini Heritage Nursing Home, Champaign, with family by his side.A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Elliott Cemetery. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton, is assisting the family with arrangements.Jimmy was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Gibson City, the son of Reuben and Frances Shilts.  Jimmy's early life was spent mostly in the Elliott area. After his mom's death, he was self-supporting and worked in food service at the University of Illinois and later at the Developmental Services Center in Champaign. He found a loving home at Rockland and Gates Villa in Rantoul. While a resident there, he was treated with love and kindness from the staff. He also found friends, Jack Hart, Vincent John and Helen Mosson, who loved him as he did them.
